[OSENWORLD] Korean rapper BE’O is opening a new chapter in his career with the release of his digital single ‘ICONIC’, dropping today (Aug 5) at 6 PM KST / 5 AM EDT. Marking his return after a year and a month, the track embodies a matured sound and message—one that BE’O says was largely inspired by global pop icon Justin Bieber.
In a Q&A shared ahead of the release, BE’O revealed that Bieber has been a major creative influence for him in recent months.
“I’ve been deeply inspired by Justin Bieber,” BE’O said. “Despite all the rumors and chaos around him, he continues to prove his value through music. That resilience really struck me, and it gave me a lot of motivation as an artist.”
In many ways, ICONIC reflects that growth. The track draws from BE’O’s past experiences of confusion and self-doubt, transforming those emotions into a bold declaration of identity and renewal. “It’s about showing the next version of myself with a sense of wit and ambition,” he explained. “I wanted to turn my past into something cool and powerful.”
In the song, BE’O collaborates with rapper and producer CHANGMO, praising his attention to detail and uplifting energy in the studio. “His guide version was already perfect, but he kept refining it with amazing precision,” said BE’O. “I learned a lot from him, and the vibe he brought really helped me stay fired up during recording.”
The music video for ICONIC adds another layer of symbolism to the comeback. One standout scene shows BE’O lying in a coffin—a moment that became unexpectedly emotional for the artist.
“It was more cramped and suffocating than I expected,” he shared. “It made me reflect deeply, even in those short moments. When I stepped out of it, it honestly felt like I’d been reborn.”
When asked what message he hopes listeners will take from ICONIC, BE’O emphasized that this is just the beginning of something new. “It’s a new chapter. A new sound. A new me. I hope that energy comes through naturally.”
Instead of focusing on long-term plans, BE’O says he wants to continue working honestly—channeling whatever emotions or thoughts come his way into music.
