[OSENWORLD] BigHit Music, the powerhouse label behind BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER, has officially revealed the name of its new, long-awaited boy group: CORTIS.
At midnight on August 7 KST, BigHit launched official social media channels for the rookie group and unveiled the group’s name through an innovative short-form video posted on TikTok. The name CORTIS is derived from the phrase “Color Outside the Lines,” symbolizing a mindset of breaking rules and thinking freely—core values the group aims to embody through their creative output.
The five members—Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Geonho—are all teenagers and form what BigHit calls a “young creator crew.” The group intends to produce their own music, choreography, and video content, offering a more collaborative, self-directed, and creator-driven approach to K-pop.

The team’s name reveal was anything but conventional. The TikTok video, titled “Logo Sound,” features a track produced by member Martin using his personal digital audio workstation. As the group name appears on screen, a mysterious, cinematic sound plays—suggesting the opening of a new world. The clip was designed and executed entirely by the members themselves, reflecting the creative ethos of the team.
CORTIS also gave fans a first glimpse of their faces and personalities through a behind-the-scenes video shot in their own workspace. Surrounded by audio equipment and keyboards, the members film one another as they work and play, offering a candid look into their process. The footage showcases not only their chemistry but also their ability to craft and promote their brand organically.
Set to officially debut on August 18, CORTIS is BigHit Music’s first new boy group in six years. Backed by the label behind global trailblazers like BTS, expectations from the K-pop fandom are already sky-high.
