[OSENWORLD] Disney+’s Korean crime comedy Low Life has closed out its first season with a finale that set social media ablaze and sent anticipation for Season 2 soaring. On August 13, the streamer dropped the final two episodes (10 and 11), delivering shocking twists, explosive confrontations, and an outpouring of reactions from viewers worldwide.
The series’ momentum has been remarkable. As of August 12, Low Life had held the No. 1 spot on Disney+ Korea’s overall content chart for 25 straight days, according to FlixPatrol, a global streaming analytics site. It also topped FUNdex’s drama buzz chart, while stars Lim Soo-jung, Ryu Seung-ryong, and Yang Se-jong swept the top three spots in the actor buzz rankings—further cementing the show as one of the most talked-about Korean dramas of the year.
Set in 1977, Low Life follows a ragtag band of well-meaning but hapless villagers drawn into a cutthroat race to recover a sunken treasure ship. The finale saw the entire treasure-hunting alliance implode: once an upstanding officer, “Hong-gi” (Lee Dong-hwi) has turned corrupt; “Yang Jung-sook” (Lim Soo-jung) breaks away to hoard cash and jewels; and “Professor Kim” (Kim Eui-sung) viciously attacks former ally “Boss Song” (Kim Jong-soo) in a betrayal fueled by greed.
Amid the chaos, “Oh Gwan-seok” (Ryu Seung-ryong) maneuvers through a perilous new phase in the game, scheming relentlessly to survive. In one of the season’s most intense moments, he corners Yang Jung-sook on a cliff, exposing the full scope of his villainy.
In stark contrast, the quiet image of “Oh Hee-dong” (Yang Se-jong) and “Seon-ja” (Kim Min) walking side by side offered a rare glimmer of hope—hinting that not everyone has been swallowed by greed.
With the finale leaving multiple fates hanging in the balance, fans are now left with one burning question: when will Low Life return for Season 2?
