[OSENWORLD] Son Heung-min is trading soccer cleats for a baseball mound — at least for one night. The 33-year-old LAFC newcomer will throw the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium on August 27 (local time), setting the stage for a possible once-in-a-lifetime meeting with Shohei Ohtani.
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced the event on August 13, revealing that Son will step onto the field before their home game against the Cincinnati Reds. The buzz isn’t just about the pitch — fans are eager to see whether the two Asian megastars, both represented by sports agency CAA Sports, will share the spotlight on the same turf.

Adding to the intrigue, Dodgers infielder Kim Hye-seong and Korean-American utility man Tommy Hyunsu Edman could also join the moment. Kim is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury but is aiming for a return before the August 27 matchup.
The Dodgers, LAFC’s cross-town neighbors, have embraced Son’s arrival with open arms. On August 7, Kim and Edman posted a video message saying, “Welcome to LA, Son Heung-min.”
Son responded in kind, sharing the first-pitch news on his own account and joking to LAFC teammate Ryan Hollingshead, “We need to practice.”

For Son, this is more than a publicity moment. The pitch will serve as a warm-up act for his MLS home debut on September 1 against San Diego FC. The Korean national team captain joined LAFC on August 6 after a decade with Tottenham Hotspur and made his first appearance in an away win over the Chicago Fire on August 10.
From Premier League legend to LA sports celebrity, Son’s welcome tour just found its biggest stage yet.
