[OSENWORLD] EXO’s Chanyeol is making his first solo comeback in a year with a mini-album exploring the many forms of human relationships.
His second mini-album, Upside Down, will be released at 6 p.m. KST on August 25 via Melon, Flo, Genie, iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and other major streaming platforms. The six-track set is anchored by its title song Upside Down.
One of the album’s central themes is wounds. Back & Forth—an alternative hip-hop track built on heavy synth pads, lyrical electric guitar, and an emotive melody—portrays the fragility of a relationship where love and hurt coexist in a repeating cycle. The title track Upside Down reflects Chanyeol’s determination to keep going without giving up, even in the face of hardship.
The other theme is journeys. Ocean Drive, a pop-rock track infused with glitch-tinged hyperpop guitar sounds and funky drum beats, celebrates shining moments of friendship during a getaway with close friends—escaping the routines of everyday life.
Through Upside Down, Chanyeol blends diverse genres and emotional tones to tell the stories of the relationships that shape life, offering listeners a personal, theme-driven journey through the “human connections” that define us.
