[OSENWORLD] South Korean President Lee Jae-myung will sit down with K-Pop Demon Hunters director Maggie Kang to discuss the future of K-pop and the global expansion of Korean cultural content.
The presidential office announced on August 19 that Lee will appear on Arirang TV’s special program K-Pop: The Next Chapter at 5 p.m. KST on August 20. The broadcast will focus on K-pop’s vision and the potential for its global growth.
Joining the discussion will be Kang, who co-directed Netflix’s hit animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters, alongside TWICE members Jihyo and Jeongyeon, who contributed to the film’s soundtrack. Producer R.Tee and music critic Kim Young-dae will also appear, with broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu serving as host.
“The insights and perspectives shared during this program will help inform future cultural policy directions,” the presidential office stated. “For Korea to strengthen its standing as one of the world’s top five soft-power nations, the sustained growth and innovation of industries such as K-pop are essential.”
President Lee recently attended a screening of K-Pop Demon Hunters. He also referenced the film during a cabinet meeting the previous day, stressing the need to accelerate Korea’s path toward becoming a global cultural leader. Lee is expected to share his impressions of the film during the broadcast.
