[OSENWORLD] Actress Gianna Jun revealed her longtime admiration for Gang Dong-won, confessing that her admiration only deepened after working with him on the Disney+ original series Tempest.
At the drama’s production presentation held on September 2 at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, Jun smiled as she admitted: “I’ve been a fan of Gang Dong-won for a long time — really. It’s true that I chose this project because I wanted to work with him. I used to collect his figurines, but once I got to know him as a person, I liked him even more and became an even bigger fan.”
She also explained why she joined the project: “With director Kim Hee-won and writer Chung Seo-kyung attached, it was a project I was eager to be part of as an actor. Above all, I wanted to work with Gang Dong-won before it was too late.”
Speaking about her role, Jun described her character Mun Ju as “quiet yet approachable, with bold decisiveness. She becomes involved in an incident and digs deeper to uncover the truth.”
Tempest follows Mun Ju (Gianna Jun), a United Nations ambassador who has built an international reputation, as she investigates the forces behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. She is joined by San-ho (Gang Dong-won), a mysterious special agent tasked with protecting her, as the two confront a massive conspiracy threatening the Korean Peninsula.
The drama has drawn major attention since its casting announcement, marking the first on-screen pairing of two of Korea’s top stars in a romance storyline. The ensemble cast also includes veteran actors Kim Hae-sook, Lee Mi-sook, Yoo Jae-myung, and Oh Jung-se, along with Lee Sang-hee, Park Hae-jun, and Joo Jong-hyuk.
Jun once again praised her co-star: “Gang Dong-won’s portrayal of San-ho created great synergy with my character Mun Ju.”
The first three episodes of Tempest premiere September 10 on Disney+.
