[OSENWORLD] Dayoung of WJSN (Cosmic Girls) is stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist — nearly nine years after first debuting. On September 9 at 6 p.m. KST, she will release her first digital single gonna love me, right? across major streaming platforms.
Reflecting on this milestone, Dayoung shared: “It’s hard to believe I’m already approaching my 10th year since debut. Everything I’ve experienced with my WJSN members made me who I am today. That’s why this solo debut doesn’t feel like it’s mine alone — it’s the result of the years we’ve walked together and the support from our fans. Because I’ve carried this dream in my heart for so long, the weight of nine years makes this debut all the more special.”
A Personal Project From Start to Finish
Dayoung was deeply involved in the making of gonna love me, right? — from the concept to songwriting and composition — aiming to craft a record that reflects her authentic artistic identity. The single centers on themes of self-love and confidence, delivering both her sincerity and a message of empowerment to listeners.
The release features three tracks: title song “body,” “number one rockstar,” and “marry me,” the last co-written and composed by Dayoung herself. Together, the songs showcase her candid emotions, playful wit, and bold artistic direction.
Title Track “body”
The lead track “body” is a rhythmic pop-dance song, described as channeling the heat of a summer night and the rush of falling in love. Built on punchy beats and an addictive hook, the song highlights Dayoung’s refreshing vocals while also teasing her versatility in rap and performance.

Teasers Raise Expectations
A second teaser released earlier on September 9 unveiled Dayoung’s striking transformation. Styled in bold fashion and dancing alongside performers against exotic backdrops, she exuded a free-spirited energy. The clip also previewed a snippet of “body,” giving fans a taste of the track’s vibrant and rhythmic atmosphere.
Dayoung in Her Own Words
Ahead of the release, Dayoung sat down for a Q&A:
On her mindset for her solo debut: “This is not just about releasing an album — it’s about presenting the real color of Dayoung as an artist. I paid attention to every detail, from the music and styling to stage direction, and poured all my time and energy into it so that I can confidently show fans the results.”
On the message of gonna love me, right?: “The album is about confidence and love. It asks, ‘You’re gonna love me, right?’ but also declares, ‘You will love me!’ I wanted it to give courage not only to myself but also to listeners, inspiring them to love themselves more.”
On shooting the “body” music video: “Filming was unforgettable. Because much of it was shot in a single take, I felt immense pressure not to make mistakes, especially before sunset. But I’m proud the final cut captured the energy and freedom I wanted to express.”
On her fans: “To our Ujung (WJSN’s fandom), thank you for your constant support. Because of you, I can finally take this first step as a solo artist. This album is filled with my gratitude and love for you, and I promise to keep growing into an artist you’ll be proud of.”

A New Chapter
Since debuting with WJSN in 2016, Dayoung has built her reputation not only as a singer but also as a vibrant personality across variety shows and digital content. With gonna love me, right? she now embarks on a new journey as a solo artist, aiming to transform nine years of experience into fresh energy for herself and her fans alike.
