[OSENWORLD] BOYNEXTDOOR are dominating Japan’s music charts. Their second Japanese single BOYLIFE sold approximately 346,000 copies in its first week, topping both the Oricon Weekly Single Ranking and Weekly Combined Single Ranking (Aug. 18–24).
On September 10, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) confirmed that BOYLIFE surpassed 250,000 units shipped, earning Platinum certification for September. Certifications are awarded monthly, with tiers ranging from Gold (100,000 units) to Million (1,000,000).
This marks BOYNEXTDOOR’s second consecutive Platinum in Japan, following their 2023 debut single AND, which also exceeded 250,000 units in its release month. Notably, they are the only international act this year to sell more than 300,000 units in their first week in Japan and top the Oricon singles chart.
The single captures themes of youthful love and unshakable confidence, with relatable lyrics and easy-to-listen melodies. Its Japanese original title track “Count To Love” likens the ups and downs of romance to the act of counting, giving the song a playful and upbeat tone. Member Taesan contributed to the songwriting, further highlighting the group’s identity.
Next up, BOYNEXTDOOR will take the global stage as official ambassadors for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship. On September 12, they will headline the finale performance at the opening ceremony in Manila’s SM Mall of Asia Arena — becoming the first Korean artists to be appointed as ambassadors for an FIVB tournament.
