[OSENWORLD] For Jun Jong-seo, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) premiere of Project Y was more than a red carpet appearance. It marked a return to Canada, where she once studied abroad, and a chance to reunite with her family.
During a Close-Up Talk on September 12 alongside co-star Han So-hee, Jun reflected on her personal ties to the country. “I used to live here when I studied abroad in middle school,” she said. “I really missed my family, and they came to the premiere yesterday. Being able to see them again felt so special.”
Jun also thanked Han So-hee for showing support despite a packed schedule. “She was in the middle of fan meetings, and she still came despite not feeling well. I was so grateful,” Jun said with a smile as she looked out at the audience. “This is our last official event here, and seeing a full house makes me very happy.”
The actress added a playful anecdote about Toronto’s autumn chill: “It’s cold here, so my manager went out and bought me an electric blanket for the hotel,” she laughed, waving the hot pack she carried during the interview, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Directed and written by Lee Hwan, Project Y follows Miseon (Han So-hee) and Dokyung (Jun Jong-seo), two women with nothing but each other, who attempt to escape desperation by stealing hidden cash and gold bars. The film was officially invited to TIFF’s Special Presentations section and premiered on September 10 with Han, Jun, and director Lee in attendance, drawing warm cheers from local fans.
