[OSENWORLD] Song E-dam is enjoying her breakout moment in tvN’s weekend drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, the fantasy romantic comedy that mixes time-slip intrigue with palace kitchen rivalries.
She joined the series in episode 7 as an interpreter from Ming China, a pivotal role that bridges communication between Joseon royal chefs and their Ming counterparts. In episode 8, Song heightened the tension by fluently translating a heated exchange between head palace chef Yeon Ji-young (Lim Yoona) and Ming’s Tang Baek-ryong (Jo Jae-yoon) over the use of chili powder — a scene that drew praise for its intensity.
On Sept. 18, the actress celebrated her on-screen debut on social media by sharing a photo with Lim Yoona, captioned: “I pop up as the Ming interpreter in #BonAppetitYourMajesty — don’t miss it!” Her playful post reflected the confidence she has gained as the show’s popularity continues to rise.
Song first appeared in Channel A’s miniseries Marry YOU as Han-bin, portraying a relatable young civil servant, and later broadened her range with short dramas including Codename B: The Gukbap Agents, Husband for Sale (旦那を中古販売します!), Love Magic Hongsi Bar, and Fresh Romance.
A graduate of the prestigious Zhejiang University, ranked among China’s top schools, Song is fluent in Korean, English, and Chinese. Her trilingual ability and natural acting talent add depth and authenticity to her interpreter character, making her stand out in the ensemble cast.
Bon Appétit, Your Majesty airs Saturdays and Sundays at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN.
