[OSENWORLD] Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice opened at No. 1 with 331,518 admissions on its first day — the strongest opening for any Korean film this year.
The film follows Mansoo (Lee Byung-hun), an office worker who believed he had “achieved everything” until a sudden layoff changes everything. Determined to protect his wife, two children, and the home he worked so hard to buy, Mansoo wages his own personal war to find a new job.
The opening set a new personal best for Park Chan-wook, surpassing Decision to Leave (114,589), his acclaimed hit The Handmaiden (290,024), and Lady Vengeance (279,413).
It also outpaced last year’s biggest box office hit Exhuma (330,118 on opening day) and 2023’s record-setter 12.12: The Day (Seoul’s Spring) (203,813). With the Chuseok holiday season ahead, industry watchers expect No Other Choice to continue its strong momentum.
