[OSENWORLD] BOYNEXTDOOR are dialing up anticipation for their comeback, unveiling a cinematic concept with 27 photos and a concept film for their upcoming 5th mini album The Action.
On September 29 at 10 p.m. KST, the six-member group dropped the “Play” version concept photos and film via their official social media channels. Fans were treated to 27 group and individual shots, alongside a short video that teased the album’s overarching movie theme.
In the photos, the members pose in front of massive billboards bearing their images, each channeling a distinct movie character. Sungho, newly blonde, exudes a calm, dreamy aura. Riwoo contrasts the eccentric energy of his billboard with a piercing gaze. Jaehyun gives off the charisma of an action-movie lead. Taesan captures a wistful, otherworldly mood, while Leehan delivers a surreal visual presence. Woonhak rounds it out with a fresh yet composed look.
The concept film adds another layer of mystery. The members receive a cryptic message from an unknown sender: “I saw your film. I loved it.” The screen then fills with their striking visuals against the backdrop of a billboard marked THE ACTION, sending fan excitement soaring.
This cinematic approach follows earlier promotions that also leaned heavily into the film motif. On September 26, BOYNEXTDOOR released a vlog-style video in which they appeared as “TEAM THE ACTION,” a fictional film crew preparing to head to a film festival in Chicago. Their first round of teasers, unveiled prior to this drop, showcased movie-like moments in exotic locations.
Set for release on October 20 at 6 p.m. KST, The Action captures the group’s aspirations for growth. Through the album, BOYNEXTDOOR sing about moving toward a “better me.” With their streak of momentum continuing, all eyes are on what the six members will deliver next.
