[OSENWORLD] Actresses Cho Yeo-jeong and Kim Yoo-jung may be teaming up on the big screen in Revenant (tentative title: Boksoogwi), the highly anticipated new film from director Hong Eui-jeong.
According to industry sources on Oct. 1, both stars are reviewing offers to headline the project. The film marks Hong’s long-awaited return after her acclaimed 2020 debut feature Voice of Silence, which earned her Best New Director honors at both the Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Baeksang Arts Awards.
Hong initially considered reuniting with actor Yoo Ah-in, the lead of Voice of Silence. However, that plan was abandoned after the actor became embroiled in drug-related allegations, forcing the production to look for new leads.
Now, with casting under way, the potential pairing of Cho Yeo-jeong and Kim Yoo-jung is drawing strong attention.
Cho Yeo-jeong, who first entered the spotlight as a model in 1997, has built a versatile career across film and television. She is best known internationally for her role in the Academy Award-winning Parasite (2019), and has also starred in films such as The Concubine, Obsessed, and The Target, as well as TV dramas including I Need Romance Season 1 and Lovers of Haeundae. More recently, she has continued to push her boundaries with bold roles, including the thriller Hidden Face, further cementing her reputation as one of Korea’s most fearless performers.
Kim Yoo-jung, who began as a child model in 2003, has grown into one of the most prominent actresses of her generation. She rose to stardom with the 2016 historical romance Love in the Moonlight and has since headlined a string of hits including Clean with Passion for Now (2019), Backstreet Rookie (2020), Lovers of the Red Sky (2021), and the fantasy-romance My Demon (2024). She is also set to return in the upcoming TVING series Dear X, promising yet another dramatic transformation.
If confirmed, Revenant would bring together two powerhouse performers in a revenge-driven narrative, raising expectations for fiery on-screen chemistry.
