[OSENWORLD] Singer-songwriter EJAE, who wrote and performed “Golden” for Netflix’s hit animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters, opened up about her long-standing insecurity over her voice — and how her fans helped her overcome it.
On October 13, EJAE made her first-ever Korean radio appearance as a guest on KBS Cool FM’s Lee Eun-ji’s Gayo Plaza. The artist, whose Billboard Hot 100-topping track “Golden” became a global hit, spoke candidly about her personal and artistic journey.
“I used to have a complex about my voice,” she said with a laugh. “Even during my trainee days, I thought it was too low — kind of dark. It didn’t sound ‘pretty’ to me. But now that so many people love it, I feel truly grateful.”

EJAE, who voiced Lumi, a member of the fictional K-pop group Huntress (헌트릭스) in K-Pop Demon Hunters, said she was amazed by the global response to her performance. “It’s been overwhelming in the best way,” she said. “Hearing people connect to a song I wrote and sang means everything.”
She also shared her affection for Korea, where she lived for more than 15 years before returning as an artist on the rise. “I really wanted to come back,” she said. “I only sleep three or four hours a day, but meeting fans makes it all worth it. Korea still feels like home.”
“Golden” — an empowering anthem now synonymous with the K-Pop Demon Hunters phenomenon — continues to dominate charts and playlists worldwide, cementing EJAE’s place as one of the most distinctive new voices in global pop.
