[OSENWORLD] K-pop girl group MEOVV (SOOIN, GAWON, ANNA, NARIN, and ELLA) are turning up the heat. The five-member act under The Black Label dropped their new digital single “BURNING UP” on October 14 at 6 p.m. KST — marking their fiery comeback roughly five months after their first EP “MY EYES OPEN VVIDE.”
Known for their powerhouse performances, sharp live vocals, and bold concept work, MEOVV sat down with OSENWORLD to talk about their growth, the making of “BURNING UP,” and what keeps their passion burning.
— “We practiced harder than ever to make this comeback happen.”

SOOIN shared her excitement about returning so soon after their debut EP:
“Our first EP received so much love, and we wanted to come back quickly to show how much we’ve grown. We trained non-stop and tried new things — I’m confident fans will love this one too.”
ANNA added,
“It’s been just five months, but it feels like forever. We’re thrilled to show another side of MEOVV through ‘BURNING UP.’”
NARIN reflected,
“This comeback means more to us than ever. We spent time realigning as a team — talking, crying, and laughing together. ‘BURNING UP’ is our way of sharing those emotions with everyone who’s supported us.”
— A Year of Growth: From Rookies to Mentors
Having recently celebrated their first debut anniversary, MEOVV also became seniors to a new rookie group under the same label.
SOOIN said,
“We’ve each learned to take more responsibility — to think about what will bring positive energy to both ourselves and the team.”
ELLA added,
“A year ago, everything felt overwhelming. Now we’ve found our rhythm — though we still have a lot to learn, we’re more confident.”
ANNA added,
“We’ve learned to understand each other better, and that gives us more ease and confidence on stage.”

— About the Song: “It’s explosive — literally.”
GAWON described “BURNING UP” as
“The embodiment of pure, burning energy. When we first heard it, we all knew immediately this had to be our next title track.”
NARIN called it “a total explosion of emotion,” saying,
“It’s nothing like our previous songs. We poured every bit of passion — even our past struggles — into it.”
— The Music Video: Fire Meets Rain
The “BURNING UP” music video visualizes MEOVV’s unstoppable energy — literally igniting everything in their path.
ELLA said,
“The scene where we danced in heavy rain was unforgettable. It’s meant to ‘cool down’ the fire we started, but it actually made the video even hotter.”
SOOIN added,
“Every time the bass drops, something catches fire — that’s exactly when we want fans to feel the heat.”
— Performance Evolution: “We’re learning to feel the stage.”
GAWON explained,
“Before, we focused on doing everything perfectly. Now, we focus on emotion and connection. Even the same choreography feels different when it comes from the heart.”
NARIN added,
“We’ve realized expression matters just as much as precision. The goal is to make the audience feel our energy.”
ANNA said,
“I try to balance intensity and restraint during our performances — it keeps every stage dynamic and fresh.”

— The Dance Breaks: “Three Explosions of Energy”
SOOIN laughed,
“There are three dance breaks in this song — each one crazier than the last! The choreography is intense but incredibly fun. We hope fans will dance along in their own style.”
GAWON shared,
“One of the breaks uses handkerchiefs — it adds a strong visual punch and fits perfectly with the club rhythm.”
— Finding MEOVV’s Identity
When asked which of their past songs best defines them, NARIN replied,
“Every track shows a different side of us, but our debut song ‘MEOW’ will always be special. It truly captured MEOVV’s essence.”
ANNA added,
“For me, it’s ‘HANDS UP.’ It reminds me of how passionate and happy we were performing it.”
ELLA said,
“‘MEOW’ also shows our funky, playful side — it’s a signature MEOVV vibe.”

— Style and Fashion: “We’re hands-on with every look.”
When it comes to styling, MEOVV are just as involved as they are in music.
GAWON shared,
“We’re very hands-on with our outfits. We talk a lot with the visual team to make sure our looks express both individuality and unity.”
SOOIN added,
“Sometimes we even bring pieces from our own closets if we think they’ll fit the concept better.”
— Songwriting and “Killing Parts”
Members GAWON and NARIN participated in writing lyrics for “BURNING UP.”
GAWON said,
“We wanted the lyrics to mirror our fiery mindset during preparations. My favorite part is when we chant, ‘We gon’ let that fire burn.’ It’s pure MEOVV energy.”
NARIN shared,
“My favorite line is ‘Ya, don’t compare me.’ It’s bold and unapologetic — very me.”
Inspiration from Everyday Life
The members also find creativity in their day-to-day experiences.
NARIN said,
“We draw ideas from everything — books, movies, even small moments in our day. Reading especially helps me find emotions that later become lyrics.”
GAWON added,
“I love visiting exhibitions and collecting vinyls — little things like that spark creativity.”
— Behind the Scenes: Fire, Salt, and Water
“Filming was like a survival game,” NARIN recalled with a laugh. “The first day was all about salt and wind, the second day was water, and the third day was water and fire. It was exhausting but unforgettable.”
SOOIN added,
“We didn’t get to visit a water park this summer, so dancing in the rain during the shoot kind of made up for it!”

— The Black Label’s TEDDY on MEOVV: “Just have fun.”
Producer TEDDY offered advice that stuck with them.
“He always says, ‘Just do it. Enjoy it. Don’t overthink it,’” SOOIN shared.
GAWON added, “He once told me, ‘You can smile more on stage.’ That changed my mindset. Performing is about sharing joy, not chasing perfection.”
— Looking Ahead: “Every genre, every challenge.”
SOOIN said,
“We want to try every kind of music.”
GAWON added,
“I’ve been listening to a lot of psychedelic and alternative rock lately, and I’d love to experiment with those sounds. Jazz, EDM — you name it, we’re ready.”
NARIN concluded,
“Our goal is to make people say, ‘I didn’t even know this genre could sound like this — but I love it.’ That’s what MEOVV is about.”
SOOIN laughed,
“People often call us ‘the cat team’ because of our fierce energy — we take that as a compliment!”

— To Their Fans, PawmPawm
SOOIN said,
“PawmPawm! We worked so hard for this comeback — please look forward to it!”
GAWON added,
“Your love keeps our fire burning. ‘BURNING UP’ is our gift to you. Let’s shine together!”
ANNA shared,
“You made this comeback possible. Every ounce of our energy comes from you.”
And NARIN wrapped it up,
“We’re back, hotter than ever. Let’s enjoy this new era side by side.”
