[OSENWORLD] Former NCT member Taeil has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of sexual assault.
On October 17, the Seoul High Court’s Criminal Division 11-3 upheld a lower court ruling, sentencing Taeil to three years and six months in prison for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, specifically for aggravated quasi-rape. Two co-defendants received the same sentence.
The court also ordered all three defendants to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment and barred them from working at institutions related to children, teenagers, or people with disabilities for five years.

Taeil had submitted a letter of remorse on October 13 in an attempt to reduce his sentence, but the court dismissed both the defendants’ and the prosecution’s appeals.
The case stemmed from a June 2023 incident in which Taeil and two acquaintances were accused of assaulting an intoxicated woman after meeting her at a bar in Itaewon, Seoul. Following the charges, Taeil was expelled from NCT, and his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment was terminated.
During the first trial, all three defendants admitted to the charges, with Taeil expressing remorse and asking for leniency during the trial. However, the court described the crime as “extremely serious, as it exploited a victim incapable of resistance,” and upheld the three-year-and-six-month prison term.
