The six-member group held a media showcase for their fifth mini album The Action on October 20 at KBS Arena in Seoul, unveiling the title track “Hollywood Action” for the first time. It was a performance brimming with spirit, ambition, and the group’s signature youthful energy.
“We’re grateful we’ve had so many chances to meet fans through new music this year,” the members said. “It’s already our third comeback in Korea this year, and we’re excited to show how we’ve grown. We hope you’ll love it as much as we do.”
The Action encapsulates BOYNEXTDOOR’s determination to evolve. The album’s concept is simple yet powerful — growth requires motion. Standing still means no progress, and the group’s latest work captures their will to take risks, move forward, and embrace the unknown.
SUNGHO explained, “This album expresses our desire to grow. To grow, you have to take action — that’s what The Action means to us.”
RIWOO added, “Everyone wants to grow, but acting on that desire isn’t always easy. We wanted to capture that mindset — to run, to improve, to keep moving forward.”
For the group, The Action also represents teamwork and creative evolution. SUNGHO shared, “Every album feels like a challenge for us. During preparation, we talked a lot about how we’ve grown and how to deliver a performance that feels new.”
He continued, “Our first goal this time is to be recognized for both our music and performance — to show how much we’ve grown and how committed we are as artists.”
The album credits include songwriting contributions from members JAEHYUN, TAESAN, WOONHAK, and for the first time, LEEHAN.
“It’s not an exaggeration to say I’ve been waiting for this moment,” said LEEHAN. “Songwriting is hard work, but it’s also deeply rewarding. I want to keep challenging myself creatively.”
RIWOO and JAEHYUN added with a laugh, “He’s the perfect match for an album about challenge and growth — he’s like the embodiment of that theme.”
Produced by ZICO, Pop Time, and Kako, the title track “Hollywood Action” radiates BOYNEXTDOOR’s unshakable self-assurance. It’s an electro-swing-inspired pop track that fuses brassy energy with sleek confidence — a sonic movie about believing in yourself.
WOONHAK said, “The moment I heard the demo, I felt it would be a hit. Since we took part in the creative process, you can really feel our energy in it.”
He continued, “This song is for anyone who hesitates to take that first step. I want listeners to gain courage — to believe they can achieve anything once they act. And yes, I really want that first-place trophy, too.”
RIWOO called the chorus “addictively catchy,” while JAEHYUN added, “The hook might be our best yet — it fits BOYNEXTDOOR’s style perfectly.”
SUNGHO summed up the group’s mindset: “What makes us happiest is hearing that people want to see BOYNEXTDOOR perform live. That means we’re connecting. We want our music to feel relatable — like it could be your story too.”
Beyond “Hollywood Action,” The Action features five tracks in total — “Live In Paris,” “JAM!,” “Bathroom,” and “You Know What I Mean.” From the late-night inspiration of “Live In Paris” to the freestyle energy of “JAM!” and the emotional depth of “Bathroom,” the album showcases BOYNEXTDOOR’s growing range both musically and lyrically.
BOYNEXTDOOR’s rise has been steady and sharp. Their previous mini albums 19.99 and No Genre both achieved million-seller status, with No Genre posting a 54% increase in first-week sales and earning praise as one of the year’s strongest K-pop releases.
All four of their past mini albums charted on the Billboard 200, while their first solo tour BOYNEXTDOOR TOUR ‘KNOCK ON Vol.1’ — covering 23 shows in 13 cities — solidified their global reach, capped off with a fiery appearance at Lollapalooza Chicago.
With The Action, BOYNEXTDOOR carry that momentum forward — a fearless declaration that they’re ready for every challenge ahead.
