[OSENWORLD] The nominees for the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, Korea’s most prestigious celebration of cinema, have been announced — with Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice emerging as this year’s front-runner.
The annual awards, honoring excellence in Korean filmmaking, confirmed nominees through a combination of industry experts and online voting held between October 1 and 19. Fifteen major competitive categories were revealed, including Best Film, Best Director, Best New Director, acting awards, cinematography and lighting, screenplay, music, art direction, editing, and technical achievement.
Contending for Best Film are five standout titles: No Other Choice, The Ugly, My Daughter is a Zombie, Harbin, and The Old Woman With The Knife. The lineup brings together both artistic ambition and box-office appeal, sparking strong interest in this year’s Blue Dragon outcomes.

Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice leads all nominees with 12 nods, showcasing both its critical and technical strength. It is followed by The Ugly with 10 nominations, Harbin with 8, and My Daughter is a Zombie and Hi-Five with 6 each — underscoring a balanced mix of genres and generations.
Also in the running are Uprising and The Old Woman With The Knife (five nominations each), Noise and The Match (three each), and 3670, The Priests 2: Dark Nuns, A Normal Family, Idiot Girls and School Ghost: School anniversary, Pretty Crazy, and Omniscient Reader: The Prophet with two nominations apiece. The broad range reflects the creative spectrum of contemporary Korean cinema, with fresh voices and bold genre experimentation defining the year’s lineup.
Meanwhile, the public voting round will run from October 21 via the “CelebChamp” mobile app, allowing fans to participate in 16 categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and the Popular Star Award. Votes from the public will carry the same weight as those from the professional jury.
The 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards will be held on November 19 at KBS Hall in Yeouido and broadcast live across South Korea on KBS2TV.
